Putting the Filly Down

The night before the NC primary election Michelle Obama held a "get-out-the-vote" rally in Charlotte. Only 1,000 people showed up and most of them were Black but on the stage sitting next to Michelle were all white faces. It took stage craft, money; Hillary was outspent as much as 5 to 1 in some states, and 9 out of 10 blacks to get the nomination and Hillary Clinton still has more popular support and more votes than Barack Obama.

Many of these same blacks liked Bill Clinton before Obama got into the race and Obama accused Clinton of playing the race card. He never did and it has been Obama who has been using race through the process. He would say, "that is Chicago politics sweetie. We play rough in Chicago." Just ask Alice Palmer.

Meanwhile Hillary Clinton has loaned her campaign millions of dollars. By the end of her campaign she was $20 million in debt. She was pressured by the DNC and superdelegates to drop out in spite of her lead in the popular vote and it has been suggested her endorsement of Barack Obama came with a price; help with her debt in return for which she would throw her support and ask her supporters to back Obama. That is not likely to happen. Some will, but many will not and already there are websites appearing all over the net of former Clinton supporters who will be switching to McCain in November or staying home.

Where is Obama's money coming from now? We know his support to get into the Senate (both of them) and initially for the presidential contest, much of it came from Iraqi and the Syrian donors. You know there are strings attached when these characters make political contributions. You can only guess what deals were made. The former unrepentant Weatherman underground terrorist, now teaching at the University of Chicago, William Ayers campaigned for him. Others, including indicted and convicted Tony Rezko, held private dinners and secret meetings. That is where a lot of the money came from.

The day after the NC and Indiana elections, former Senator George McGovern of South Dakota (1972 Democratic nominee for president) a well-known supporter of Senator Clinton's candidacy, switched his endorsement to Obama. He says he believes it is time for her to drop out of the race. He says it is not possible for her to win. Others followed and switched prior to the convention. It didn't matter to them that she can win and he has a checkered past. They never questioned him about his connections to criminals and other unsavory characters or how he got his money or his previously proclaimed support for Palestinian terrorists.

Did the super delegates put her down like a filly that had just gone lame?

The Real Game
Euthenizing Democracy

Voting doesn't change anything, nor is the Democratic Party democratic. Money talks and democracy walks.

Hillary won the popular vote but could not convince unpledged delegates that she deserved the nomination.

In a Washington Post column by Richard Cohen, Obama's Trouble With The Truth (Jan 1, 2008), Cohen writes:

"In a recent provocative essay for The New Republic's Web site, Princeton historian Sean Wilentz coined the phrase "the delusional style in American punditry." He applied it to Obama's fans in the American press. His argument is that certain journalists are so enthralled by the sheer Obamaness of Obama that they are willing to overlook everything they know about the fundamental value of experience."

"In this regard, Wilentz cites a Boston Globe editorial that used Obama's memoir "Dreams From My Father" to extol Obama's real-life experiences. Wilentz is not persuaded. To him, the book is "not exactly a portrait of sterling honesty or authenticity.""

"I and others have written that Obama -- as he himself says in the introduction -- invented composite characters and altered chronology. But as The Chicago Tribune also reported, some of the events Obama passionately details seem not to have happened at all. Maybe his memory played tricks on him. Mine sure does."

So it is OK for Obama to alter reality but it is not all right for Hillary Clinton to slightly change reality during her trip to Bosnia 14 years ago? Obama can't get the facts right on things which happened 4 years ago.

The racial divide is also huge. 92% African-Americans in NC voted for Barack Obama which not much different than elsewhere. It looks to me like it is a "White" against "Black" thing. As for the claim that educated whites vote for Obama, the truth told correctly is educated whites vote for both, but "liberal" whites, who also tend to be educated, though not smarter, vote for Obama, a white guilt, white liberal thing?

AND, it is not a "Smart" against "Dumb" thing. I know many professionals and educated "middle-class", like the majority of those over 50-60 who support Hillary Clinton, whereas young people are coming out in droves for Obama. They may or may not show up for the general election? They are not voting on issues; they are for their team, which is Obama, the young unvetted black man. What does it matter that he is an empty suit? What does it matter that he his known associates are black racists? What does it matter that he did favors for a convicted felon? This reminds me of a high school football game and they are being led on by cheer-leaders who only promise the hope of winning.

Hope For What?

While I don't use a standard blog (weblog software) mostly because I've been doing this too long - having been there with Ike when the precursor to the Internet, Arpanet got started and every step of the way since, I can't get into all the many fads over the years (now it is social networking), but I have been an observer and participant in events which shape the world since my time with NSA and with Army Security and as a voice security cryptologist in the White House for the President, and the War Room at the Pentagon for the Chairman of the Chiefs of Staff plus two wars. You could say this site is one of the better kept secrets [grin] on the InterNUT. You are invited back as often as you would like to see what I and others, I trust, may be saying.
