There he goes again. Obama has attitude. His campaign wants Obama to put up a strong defense - so every act of the sitting president and statement coming from the presumptive Republican candidate is challenged. Even when there is no conflict, Obama, the uniter and change agent, spins it with manufactured indignation. That is Obama with attitude.
Caroline Glick, in the Jerusalem Post writes: "The latest attitude to be flouted as policy is indignation. Specifically, Democratic Presidential hopeful Senator Barack Obama's furious indignation at President George W. Bush's address before the Knesset...where he celebrated Israel's 60th anniversary and extolled the US's alliance with Israel. Beyond praising the Jewish people's 4,000 year-old devotion to the Land of Israel and to liberty, Bush used the speech to warn against those who think that Iran and its terror proxies can simply be wished away through appeasement." (Our World: Obama's unique appeasement style -JPOST)
As the president put it, "Some seem to believe that we should negotiate with the terrorists and radicals, as if some ingenious argument will persuade them they have been wrong all along. We have heard this foolish delusion before. As Nazi tanks crossed into Poland in 1939, an American senator declared: `Lord, if I could only have talked to Hitler, all this might have been avoided. We have an obligation to call this what it is - the false comfort of appeasement, which has been repeatedly discredited by history.'" (ibid)
As so well articulated in his syndicated column,
Charles Krauthammer put it this way (April 27, 2008):
"...Tony Rezko, the indicted fixer; Jeremiah Wright, the racist reverend; William Ayers, the unrepentant terrorist. And then Obama's own anthropological observation that "bitter" working-class whites cling to guns and religion because they misapprehend their real class interests."
"In the now-famous Pennsylvania debate, Obama had extreme difficulty answering questions about these associations and attitudes. The difficulty is understandable. Some of the contradictions are inexplicable. How does one explain campaigning throughout 2007 on a platform of transcending racial divisions, while in that same year contributing $26,000 to a church whose pastor incites race hatred?" (Krauthammer)And Interestingly, as Caroline Glick points out in her article, clearly exposing Obama's own paranoia with Bush's comments about the risk of appeasement, "as-if" aimed specifically at Obama (though it clearly was not) Israelis did not find that speech in the Israeli knesset particularly controversial because,
"Israel is beset by enemies who daily call for its physical annihilation
and while doing so, build and support terror forces who attack Israel.
For most Israelis, the notion that these enemies can be appeased is
absurd and deeply offensive."
"From an Israeli vantage point then, it was shocking to see that immediately after Bush stepped down from the rostrum, Obama and his Democratic supporters began pillorying him for his remarks. Most distressing is what Obama's reaction said about the Democratic presidential hopeful." (ibid)
"OBAMA'S RESPONSE to Bush's speech was an effective acknowledgment that appeasing Iran and other terror sponsors is a defining feature of his campaign and of his political persona. As far as he is concerned, an attack against appeasement is an attack against Obama." (ibid)
What Obama found offensive did elicit a strong reaction in Israel. But it was the opposite response; it was one of relief. George Bush has not been as strongly opposed to terrorism and terrorist states as most Israelis would like so when he pledges no to appeasement and "not to allow Iran to acquire the means to conduct a new Holocaust," that is a welcome relief to most Israelis.
Too bad Obama could not see the intent of those words. It demonstrates again that Barack Obama is too naive and incompetent to be president. Israel's security is not up for negotiation.
Charles Krauthammer, in the Deseret News (Salt Lake City) April 27, 2008 asks,
"What is Obama to do? Dismiss all such questions about his associations and attitudes as "distractions." And then count on his acolytes in the media to wage jihad against those who have the temerity to raise these questions. As if the character and beliefs of a man who would be president are less important than the "issues." As if some political indecency was committed when Obama was prevented from going through his 21st -- and likely last -- primary debate without being asked about Wright or Ayers or the tribal habits of gun-toting God-loving Pennsylvanians."
Take Ayers. Obama makes it sound as if the relationship consists of having run into each other at the DMV. In fact, Obama's political career was launched in a 1995 meeting at Ayers' home. Obama's own campaign says that they maintain "friendly" relations." (ibid)
"Obama's defense is that he was 8 when Ayers and his Weather Underground comrades were planting bombs at the Pentagon, the U.S. Capitol and other buildings. True. But Obama was 40 when Ayers said publicly that he doesn't regret setting bombs. Indeed, he said, `I feel we didn't do enough.'" (ibid)
"Would you maintain friendly relations with an unrepentant terrorist? Would you even shake his hand? To ask why Obama does is perfectly legitimate and perfectly relevant to understanding what manner of man he is." (ibid)
Friends share ideas and even their speeches. Friends share their secrets.
"Sen. Obama and I are long-time friends and allies. We often share
ideas about politics, policy and language. (Deval Patrick)
Do they, Deval Patrick and Barack Obama, share ideas and politics? Obama and gang like to compare the two. Both are friends and both are African-American politicians. You may recall Obama used some of Deval Patrick's speeches, word for word; exactly the same words.
They both went to Harvard Law and they have both used lofty rhetoric to sell their amorphous message of change. Both have had mass appeal, but Patrick Deval has a record of attainment as governor of Massachusetts. Obama does not have executive experience. Obama does not have much legislative success. Obama is an empty suit. Obama is all showman. His plan has been for as long as others have known him to become the president. Beyond that, nobody really knows - or if somebody knows, they're not talking.
This is the preview from The Wall Street Journal, written by Jon Keller, May 3, 2008 (Mr. Keller is political analyst for WBZ-TV in Boston and author of "The Bluest State" (St. Martins, 2007):
"Mr. Patrick, 52, was swept into office in a landslide in 2006. He won because Democrats were energized to capture the governor's mansion and because he presented himself as an historic candidate. Having never held elective office before - though he was assistant attorney general for the civil rights division in the Clinton administration - it was easy for him to claim that he wouldn't be beholden to special interests or outmoded orthodoxes. Baby boomers, eager to make a permanent mark on the political landscape, also found the idea of electing the state's first black governor appealing."
"What the Bay State got, however, is a pedestrian liberal governor who is remarkably quick to retreat in the face of pressure from the status quo."
"Mr. Patrick's first cave-in came just weeks after he was elected, and before he was even sworn into office. On the campaign trail he promised to cut $735 million in wasteful spending from the state budget. But when the Democratic Senate president rebuked him for it, the governor-elect backpedalled. The Boston Globe summed it up this way: `Patrick backed off and said he didn't really mean it.'"
"Another retreat came on a common sense issue that likely might have marked him as a true reformer had he made even a losing fight of it. Massachusetts is the only state that mandates that cops, not flagman, direct traffic at road-construction sites. "Education may be the one area where Mr. Patrick could have done the most to demonstrate that he is indeed a new man of the left. Fifteen years ago, the state enacted strict testing requirements for both teachers and students and passed reforms that encourage the creation of charter schools. The result: Massachusetts consistently places among the top performers on the National Assessment of Educational Progress. Sticking by these bipartisan reforms - or even expanding them to help minority children in poor areas - would seem to be an easy call."
"But to the delight of education unions, Mr. Patrick instead appears to be laying the groundwork to dismantle these reforms. He appointed antitesting zealot Ruth Kaplan to the state Board of Elementary and Secondary Education, where she repaid his confidence recently by disparaging the college preparation emphasis of some charter schools. She said these schools set `some kids up for failure . . . Their families don't always know what's best for their children.'"

"One characteristic of the Obama-Patrick brand of politics is the assertion that they can personally persuade disparate political leaders to reach a consensus. Mr. Patrick's biggest test of this claim came this year when he proposed bringing jobs to the state by allowing casino gambling in Massachusetts. The proposal angered an odd alliance of liberals and social conservatives because gambling is a highly regressive (if voluntary) tax. And it ended in defeat for the governor."
"Rather than use the bully pulpit to create public pressure in favor of his proposal - Mr. Patrick told me in late March "I don't think that the way to advance most of our agenda is to do it through the media" - he lobbied lawmakers behind closed doors, using data that proved flimsy and skewed. In the end, his bill went down to a crushing defeat and, on the day of the legislature's vote, he skipped town to ink a $1.35 million book deal at a Manhattan publishing house."
"What should trouble Mr. Obama the most is that the stirring rhetoric of Mr. Patrick's 2006 campaign, now being recycled by the Illinois senator (at times, word for word), is no longer connecting with Massachusetts voters. A mid-April poll found that 56% of the state's voters disapprove of the governor's performance. Even among left-leaning Democrats, more than four in 10 disapprove of Mr. Patrick."

In short, Deval's administration has been an abject failure, just as the incompetence of Barack Obama will show through and if you though it couldn't get worse after Bush, you may be surprised when Democrats do not select the best qualified candidate to be their nominee.
Mr. Obama has self-servingly said of himself and Mr. Patrick,
"We are the change we've been waiting for..."
But Keller writing in the Wall Street Journal said, "what Mr. Patrick has demonstrated in office is that once the initial rush of making history has waned, these fresh faces seem to offer little change beyond the rhetoric."
Obama doesn't have much of a record, but what it does show is Obama has a record of being anti-gun. His "bitter" and "cleave to religion" comments targeted workers and gun owners but that doesn't stop him from courting firearm-rights supporters.
As reported in Politico, Obama highlights his background in constitutional law while downplaying his anti-gun voting record. And that subterfuge didn't stop him from getting endorsements from pro-gun Democratic superdelegates.
Call it hypocrisy or call it old fashioned politics. Obama is clearly a politician, who will say anything to win, while doing the opposite if it helps him win. In Obama's world real facts don't matter. They never mattered. He is friends with everyone; terrorist and crime fighter - worker and the boss. The end always justifies the means. But will this trickery work in the general election?
When it suits him he is a gun-tottin, NAFTA hating (secretly loving NAFTA and CAFTA), a "red-neck" which comes in two colors, both white or black (that is, whatever works) and he is even more Jewish than the Jews when speaking to AIPAC. Obama flip-flops around all the issues, FLIP or FLOP on real issues and will say anything when the timing is right, to get nominated.
The only real alternative is "straight talking" McCain after over a year of putting up with Obama's gymnastic flip flops with the truth. He can shift change so well he would be a shoo-in in a political Olympics if they had an event for the most convincing liars.
